On September 25, 2012 we went and purchased our
trailer from Harbor Freight Tools. We chose this trailer mostly on price, but also because it was easy to obtain, and it had all of the features that we needed. It has a 1720 lb rating which should be more than enough for what we have planned. There are trailers from Harbor Freight that have lower capacities, and lower prices, if you are planning on an ultralight teardrop, but we wanted some capacity for extra luxuries seeing as we will be living out of this teardrop for months at a time.
We ensured that all the pieces were accounted for, and loosely connected the pieces so we could see the trailer as it will look. This was the first bit of physical evidence that we were actually doing this project. Up unti now its all been doodles on paper or computer models.
Here are some photos of our work thus far.
Good for you! I followed turned-about and so caught your comment there. I'm interested to see your approach as a carpenter/construction guy to building the teardrop.
